Zohran Mamdani's Appalling Transition Team Takes Shape

Plus, Soros-funded anti-Semitism curriculum downplays anti-Semitism

Zohran Mamdani has promised to “hit the ground running” when he’s sworn in as New York City mayor on Jan. 1. His transition team is taking shape, and the members reflect the anti-Israel radicalism that is the throughline of Mamdani’s political career—as well as an out-and-out hostility to law enforcement, a view Mamdani claims to have shed. The Mamdani transition team includes:

• Tamika Mallory — A leader of the Women’s March, she was forced out due to her admiration for Louis Farrakhan and contention that Jews were behind the American slave trade.

• Ramzi Kassem — A lawyer for al Qaeda members, Kassem also represented Columbia University encampment organizer Mahmoud Khalil when the Trump administration sought his removal from the country. Kassem was an anti-Israel activist as a Columbia student himself and lobbied the school to rename an “Israeli wrap” offered in the dining hall, arguing it was offensive to Muslims.

• Abby Stein — A transgender “rabbi” who was ejected from a Biden White House pride party for disruptive anti-Israel chants, Stein was featured in a “Jews for Zohran” campaign video. She sat for an “interfaith dialogue” with Iranian president Masoud Pezeshkian in October 2024, just days before the Islamic Republic launched nearly 200 missiles at the Jewish state.

• Lumumba Bandele — An acolyte of the late convicted cop killer Assata Shakur and a self-described “child of the Black liberation movement,” Bandele has led campaigns to free Black Liberation Army members convicted of killing cops, including one, Herman Bell, who confessed to slaying two NYPD officers.

• Alex Vitale — A member of Mamdani’s “Committee on Community Safety” and the author of The End of Policing, Vitale has called to abolish just about everything: police, prisons, Border Patrol, ICE, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Texas Rangers, and even borders themselves. Cops, he says, are “violence workers” and “the natural enemy of the working class.”

George Soros’s philanthropy has done immeasurable damage to the country and the world. Case in point: The billionaire bankrolls a New York nonprofit to develop a curriculum on anti-Semitism—or, more accurately, “a curriculum on anti-Semitism.” The curriculum states that allegations of anti-Semitism are often “fabricated” to silence anti-Israel activists, our Chuck Ross reports. Don’t take your eye off the ball, George!

The Soros-funded Open Society Foundations gave the organization PARCEO, whatever that is, $50,000 to develop its anti-Semitism curriculum, which is entitled “Curriculum on Antisemitism from a Framework of Collective Liberation.” (You read that right.) The curriculum has already stirred controversy at some public schools. Jewish faculty at New York City’s High School for Community Leadership, for example, complained that it presented a “one-sided indoctrination” of the Israel-Hamas war.

PARCEO was founded by two members of the radically anti-Israel Jewish Voice for Peace, Nina Mehta and Donna Nevel. In an essay introducing the curriculum, they said anti-Semitism “has been misused to serve as an anti-liberatory agenda.” Mehta has argued there are “many examples of fabricated cases of antisemitism instigated by those standing against … justice for the Palestinian people.” Nevel decried a White House anti-Semitism task force because it “singles out antisemitism and, by extension, Jews, as requiring a special strategy.” Sixty percent of all hate incidents are against Jews, pesky FBI statistics show.

Aftyn Behn (Aftyn for Congress/Facebook)

The Democrat (and lunatic) running in Tennessee’s special congressional election, Aftyn Behn, urged white candidates—in a now-deleted tweet—to end their primary campaigns if facing a minority opponent. Then she found herself in a primary and knocked out a black opponent.

“I’m probably going to be trolled for this, but if you’re a white man running in a primary with a progressive POC, I challenge you to ask yourself in this moment, ‘is my voice more important?’” Behn wrote in a social media post in 2020. “And if you think it is, your campaign is more about you than your policy agenda.”

Behn did not take her own advice when she launched a campaign to replace retiring Republican congressman Mark Green: She defeated black state representative Vincent Dixie by just 1,500 votes.
